Dell Computer co. makes its home here, providing many thousands of high paying jobs and contributing to the city's steady growth. With double-digit percentage growth in each of the past several years, Round Rock has become a diverse commercial and business center.
Round Rock has great amenities and it features several top-prospect sport teams. Round Rock is home to the Round Rock Express (Baseball) and has the Austin Ice Bats just around the corner.
Round Rock takes its name from an unusual flat-topped, round rock in the middle of Bushy Creek, which sits atop the water like a giant lily pad. The rock made a convenient fishing spot for early settlers, and later marked a low water crossing for wagons travelling the Chisholm Trail. The town of Round Rock dates back to 1854. Many buildings from the early days are still standing in the city's old town area.
