Bastrop is located in Central Texas 30 miles east of Austin. Bastrop is rich in history and natural beauty. The Colorado River runs through both the City and the County of Bastrop. Early in Texas history, it was almost the capital of Texas, but was beat out by Waterloo, later known as Austin.
Bastrop features three 18-hole golf courses, a beautiful State Park and one of the oldest Opera Houses in Texas all within minutes from down town.
